Fantastic, hot, striking are words to describe the color of this piece. In Burma, dealers call this "Byin Thit"- pronounced "be yeen tit" meaning French or France only because in the olden days all the synthetic flame fusion rubies came from France. The color of these synthetic rubies were created in the red and most desirable color shades. Gem dealers always compare their natural stones with synthetic ones as color comparison reference to check and ensure colors match. This cab spinel has internally blemishes which has helped the stone appear even more prettier because the fractures are "clean and concaved" to reflect and bounce light within the stone. This piece would certainly make a handsome ring if set in 22 karat gold in a bezel mounting. Excellent piece! LA/June 9, 2007 |
